JIASOWA fair a big hit on inaugural day

Chief Minister Raghubar Das inaugurated the Diwali Utsav, an annual Fair organised by the Jharkhand IAS Officers Wives Association (JIASOWA) on Thursday. The fair has already become a hit on the first day itself with flocking the venue in huge numbers for shopping and enjoyment.

 JIASOWA media in-charge Richa Sanchita informed that the different women SHG groups have put up several stalls with products of domestic use in the fair that will continue till October 21. The women SHG groups have put up stalls of wafers, pickles, pulses and many other edible items. The slippers and sandals made by the groups are also being provided to the visitors on reasonable rates. She said that Santhal Pargana’s traditional dance form “Dong” is also attracting the visitors.

Women seem to be more attracted towards household items at the fair. Women are also shopping for bamboo-based products. A variety of designs and quality clothing collections are available for women at the fair. Clothing vendors from different states of the country have set up their stalls at the fair.  Khadi dresses, silk and Chanderi silk sarees, Gujarati-Banarasi sarees, Rampur saris and suits, terracotta and jute products, various bamboo products for home use, leather bags for women, fancy chappals, Jaipuri lac bangles, Fancy Glass Bangles, Makeup Accessories, Artificial Jewelery, Bhadohi's Carpet, Winter Dresses, Half Designer Bundi for Men, Blazer, Leather Range of belts, fancy dresses etc. are available in large quantities. People arriving at the JIASOWA fair were also seen shopping for different types of home furnishing products. There are many attractive items made of bamboo among the home furnishings. In view of Deepawali and Chhath Puja, Ajay Kumar Das, who arrived from Dumka, is also selling items made of bamboo soup, tour, basket etc. He said that Chhath Vratis are buying bamboo baskets of different varieties from the fair. The demand is high due to the timing of the festival. Prakash Kumbhakara, who arrived from Chandankariari Bokaro, said that the demand for clay lamps has increased due to the festival of Diwali. The lamps for the fair are selling 120 rupees per hundred. Modern diyas are also being sold by JHASCOLAMP. People are getting a lot of convenience from getting the items of festivals in the fair.

Hi-tech nursery stalls have been set up by the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation, in which people are getting various types of plants at reasonable prices. Free health check-up camp is also being provided. People are also getting the benefit of free health check-up at the fair. People are getting blood pressure, sugar level check etc for free.

Golden Card is also being made under the Ayushman Bharat scheme run by the government. To make a golden card, it is mandatory for the family to present with the Aadhaar card. At the same time, a stall has also been set up for new voter ID card and change in the voter ID card issued earlier, said Sanchita.
