JIASOWA gears up for 13th Diwali Utsav

The 13th edition of the annual Diwali Utsav organised by Jharkhand IAS Officers Wives Association (JIASOWA) will be held with much fanfare from October 17 to October 21 at Morhabadi Maidan.. The fair will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das on October 17.

JIASOWA Secretary Manu Jha and media in-charge Richa Sanchita addressed a press conference on Wednesday and gave detailed information about the event.

The visiting hours for the fair will be from 11am to 8 pm. With more than 300 stalls at display, the fair will have entrepreneurs from across the country like Delhi, Punjab, Jammu, West Bengal and Kerala. Items including artifacts, kitchen ware, winter wear, lac bangles, bamboo products and textiles like silk will be available under one roof.

Addressing the gathering Jha said that all members are making an effort to make the event a huge success. “JIASOWA constantly strives to provide a platform to the women entrepreneurs of Jharkhand. This year the chief focus has been on promoting the products of women self help groups of the State and they have been invited to put up their stall,” said the Secretary.

The other major attractions of the fair will include the food stalls serving mouth water delicacies. Visitors will also get a chance to enjoy the different cuisines of Jharkhand including Santhal Pargana and Chotanagpur region. Entertainment programmes like various competitions, folk dance and adventure games for children have also been organised. Facilities like free Wi- Fi, free health check- up camps, free drinking water facility, mobile ATM’s will also be provided. On the purchase of two entry tickets, visitors will be given a free cloth carry bag.

Sanchita said that the Diwali Utsav is also giving a message of a plastic free environment. “This year JIASOWA is also trying to give the message of a healthy environment and for this usage of single use plastic has been banned at the fair premises. An awareness camp is also being organised at the fair and a plastic recycling stall has also been put up.”

Mili Sarkar, Amita Khandelwal, Manju Prasad, Steffi Teresa Murmu and other members of the organization were present on the occasion.
