JMM urges Guv for probe in Assembly fire incident

Saturday, 07 December 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday once again demanded from constitutional patron of the State, Governor Draupadi Murmu to order a high level probe in the fire incident at new Jharkhand State Assembly building as repairing work was started for the damaged part the building caused by the fire before filing of an FIR.

Addressing a press meet at the party headquarters, JMM General Secretary and Spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the Governor should immediately order probe in the case by high level judicial body. “As after so many hours of the incident an FIR has not been registered by the concerned officials related to such serious case. Repairing work has been started for the damaged part of the building in other words, we can say it as wiping out of the evidences has been started. Before removal of evidence the Governor should take immediate action and order for a probe,” he added.

The party General Secretary said that it is very strange that fire broke out at four corners of the building at the same time; this is matter of completely suspicion. “Fire Department has given conditional certificate to the concerned authority on September, 11. On the basis of this how Municipal Commission gave completion certificate and the State Building Construction given completion certificate. Total process clearly indicates a gross negligence and the Chief Minister is saying lie on the issue but to whom he is telling lie, he himself not going to be absolved from hands of law,” he added.

Appealing to the Election Commission of India, (ECI), Bhattacharya said that there is need to take stern action against those State Government officials who have been trying to affect poll process in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a large number of the officials are trying to affect voting process as in last five years they have eaten salt of dishonesty they become a habitual to do dishonest work. “Under Dumka State Assembly seat Project Director, Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society, Ashayani Marko is misusing her post and threatening voters to vote in favour of a particular candidate. With regard to the case the ECI should take immediate and stern action against her,” he added.

Attacking BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, Bhattacharya said that the State Assembly building is House of ruling party and the opposition also so politics should be prohibited in house. Bhattacharya said that at the time of inauguration the ruling party did not give due respect to Opposition then how he is expecting that JMM will not raise the issue. Patra should be ashamed for his statement, he added.
