Job racket busted in Jharsuguda; 4 held

The Badmal police on Wednesday night busted a fake job racket and arrested four persons from outside the Vedanta Limited in the district.

The arrestees were identified as Jayant Rajak (30) of East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, Ranjan Mahanand (24) of Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda, Pralaya Nanda (52) of Kesinga area in Kalahandi district and Maheswar Pattnaik of Rampur in Kalahandi district.

Police seized Rs 54,000 in cash, a car and CVs of around 50 job aspirants from their possession.

During investigation, it was revealed that the accused have duped over a hundred job aspirants of lakhs of rupees on the guise of providing them employment at the Vedanta company here. They had taken Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 from each candidate. A company official said, “We appeal to job aspirants not to fall in the trap of fraudsters. A counter FIR will be filed by us soon.”
