An attempt is being made nowadays to distort communication. One needs to be wary of this because such communication these days is becoming mainly a means to generate TRP and income, said member of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Community, Prashant Paul. He was speaking at a Narad Jayanti programme organised by the Vishwa Samvad Kendra here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he also referred to sage Narad as the first journalist.
He said that in Narad Puran, Narad Samhita and other treatise, he has accorded prime importance to communication for human welfare.
Senior journalist and former chief information commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, Arvind Singh Bisht spoke on the importance of news.
Originally the purpose of journalism in India was the independence of the nation. The form of media has now changed and it has also become more empowered.
Presiding over the function, ONGC general manager Indra Singh Negi and special guest, former deputy director of PIB, Dehradun, Prakash Thapliyal also expressed their views on the occasion.Journalists including Gajendra Singh Negi of The Pioneer, Kishore Arora, Meena Negi, Pawan Nautiyal and Kapil Garg along with photo journalist Anil Dogra were also felicitated on the occasion for commendable work in journalism.
