For imparting physical and self defence training to boys and girls, a karate school was opened here near SVM College here on Sunday by Collector SK Mohapatra.
Speaking on the occasion,Mohapatra stressed on maintaining physical fitness for everyone.
Okinawa Uechi-Ryu Karate Do Association of India supports the school, whose Odisha headquarters functions at Nabarangapur and its branch opened in Jagatsinghpur, informed Sansei Sarat Kumar Rout, a black belt third Dan who is the Odisha head.
Informing about karate, Sansei Rout claimed karate martial art is not only for self defence but itgives mental and physical concentration to learners. So, he requested guardians should send their children to the school.
A karate training demonstration was presented by Sansei Rout and his student black belt BiswajitPatnaik.
The opening ceremony was attended by State Cashew Development Corporation chairman Amarendra Das, cine star Mitu Mithun, district instructor black belt Tanmaya Kanta Panda, school manager Sabasini Behera and coordinators Ekbal Ahemmed Shah and Kanaklata Satapathy.
