The Judicial Academy Jharkhand, Ranchi on Sunday launched a six-month research project “Cyber Crimes – Issues and Challenges, Remedies under the Present Law: A Critical study in the State of Jharkhand” with the aim to find the causative factors and remedies to the cyber crime.
The scheme, which is sponsored by Department of Justice, Government of India, was initiated in the presence of Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice Anant Bijay Singh of High Court of Jharkhand.
Sources said the project will address the causes for spread of cyber crime in some districts of Jharkhand that has earned the area the inglorious identity of being a hub of cyber criminal activities.
The exponential growth of cyber crimes caught the eyes of Justice Anant Bijay Singh on a report published by The Hindu , dated August 12, 2017 under title “ The Cyber con artists of Jamtara”. Subsequently, a proposal for research was submitted before the Ministry of Law and Justice which has been finally approved.
The research team comprise Prof. (Dr.) Mrinal Satish, chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy, cyber expert (Honorary) Navin Kumar Singh, IG (H.R.), project investigator Dr K. Syamala, associate professor, NUSRL, Ranchi, Krishna Kumar, Advocate, High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi and interested students of NUSRL.
Speaking on the occasion Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh reflected on the factor leading to increase in cyber crime. The meeting was attended by members of the research team, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority of all the districts of Jharkhand and assistants especially deputed for collection of data from all districts of Jharkhand.
