Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Krjriwal met six-year-old minor rape victim, and her father at the Safdarjung Hospital and assured legal and financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh for her family.
Kejriwal was accompanied by the Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal and other members. During his visit, Kejriwal also met the doctors who are treating the minor rape victim.
"I am horrified after seeing the condition of six year-old girl child in Safdarjung Hospital. Met her father. What society do we live in? Del Govt will provide Rs 10 lakh financial assistance & best legal help.
We will make best efforts so that accused gets exemplary punishment," Krjriwal tweeted.
Kejriwal was informed that the minor victim's condition is now stable, though the treatment will take a long time and further surgeries will be required to being her to normalcy.
Kejriwal told the victim's father that the Delhi Government will provide a financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family and all possible legal aid in the form of best lawyers will be provided to ensure harshest punishment to the accused in this case of extreme brutality.
"Delhi Government is willing to work with all concerned to ensure children and women safety in the national capital. Exemplary punishment must be given to those committing heinous crimes against minors so that an effective deterrent sends out a clear signal in the society," Kejriwal said.
