Kid, woman die, 2 hurt in separate road accidents

Two fatal accidents were reported in South Delhi in last 24 hours. In the first incident, an eight-year-old girl was killed after she was allegedly hit by a speeding car.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in South Delhi’s Dera Mandi road. Police said they have arrested the accused driver.

The girl is identified as Komal, a resident of village Jonapur while the accused has been identified as Sagar, a resident of Joga Mohalla mandi.

According to Atul Kumar Thakur, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South district, on December 4, around 1.10 pm when Komal was on the way to her house from school, Nagar Nigam Vidyalaya in Gagaipur, she was hit by a Mahindra Scorpio car.

“The driver of the car, took her to trauma center where she was declared brought dead. Police were informed regarding the accident by hospital. A case under section 279/304 A of Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Fatehpur beri police station and the accused driver was arrested,” said the DCP.

“The accused, Sagar, works as a driver and at the time of incident he was driving his personal car,” the DCP added. Meanwhile, the father of Komal, Ramdeen Maurya has donated her eyes to the hospital.

In another incident, a 59-year-old woman died while two others, including her husband were injured after they met an accident near Kohinoor Mall in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash area.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna Singla, a resident of Dwarka. Police said that her husband Mahavir Prasad was driving car when he dozed off which lead to the accident.

Police said on the intervening night of December 3 and 4, Krishna, along with her husband and a relative were on way back to their home after attending a wedding when Prasad dozed off and met an accident near Kohinoor Mall in South Delhi.

“No police control room (PCR) call was received regarding the accident. Injured occupant of the car reached hospital themselves where Krishna was declared brought dead while other were discharged after the treatment,” said a police official.

“A case under section 279, 304 A of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at CR Park police station and the body was handed over to family after autopsy was conducted,” said a police official.
