Kyrgyzstan flier tries to smuggle Rs 27 L gold, cigarettes at IGIA, held

Delhi Customs official have arrested a Kyrgyzstan national for allegedly trying to smuggle  in  gold and cigarettes worth Rs 27 lakh at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport. According to a senior customs official, the accused woman was intercepted after her arrival from Osh (Kyrgyzstan) via Moscow on Thursday.

“She was stopped by officials and a detailed personal and baggage search of the passenger resulted in the recovery of four gold chains (collectively weighing 803 grams) and 5,000 sticks of Davidoff brand cigarettes,” said the senior Customs official.

“The gold and cigarettes worth Rs 26.73 lakh has been seized and the passenger has been arrested under section 104 of the customs act,” said the senior Customs official adding that further investigation is going on.
