Dr Maheshwar Prasad, Civil Surgeon, East Singhbhum showing confidence in Lions recently called up Past District Governor of Lions Clubs International Rajnish Kumar to come forward and help take possession of few Moksha Vahan (Mortuary van) which has been provided in each District by Ministry of Health and lying for months here.
The matter was then discussed with Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare and he too appreciated that Lions who are committed and good in social services should run few such Vahan.
He said It can be given to any NGO but they prefer NGO with good credentials. Necessary approval was then granted both by Health Ministry and District Administration, East Singhbhum to provide Moksha Vahan to Lions.
Lions requested for two such vehicles and authorized three members Past District Governor Lion Sudipto Mukherjee, Past President of Lions Club of Jamshedpur Tatanagar and Past President of Lions Club of Jamshedpur Kalimati to take possessions of two vehicles and monitor and run as per the norms decided by the Government.
The services will be provided free to all death taking place in BPL families who dies in any Government Medical College and Hospital / Sadar Hospital for which government will make reimbursement and rest n be charged as per the Government guidelines for running of such vehicles.
Today in a simple ceremony Dr Maheshwar Prasad, Civil Surgeon East Singhbhum handed over two Moksha Vahan to Lions Fraternity of Jamshedpur. Lions with necessary preparations and publicity will start running it within a week.
The vahan will be displaying few contact numbers of Lions. Publicity materials will soon be displayed in various hospitals, nursing homes and other public places for the information so that much-needed facility can be availed by the family in distress.
