Members of the Shiv Sena women wing, Ganjam district on Friday held a demonstration before the Sub-Collector office here, demanding closure of the Government-licensed country liquor shop in Lathi village under the Kukuda Khandi block at the earliest.
The women mentioned that atrocities against women and children are increasing and families are being ruined in the village due to the existence of the liquor shop in the village.
The members submitted a memorandum, addressed in the name of the district Collector, to the Sub-Collector, demanding closure of the shop at the earliest.
The Sub-Collector was also requested to send copies of the memorandum to the Excise Department and the Kukuda Khandi Tehsildar.
They threatened to intensify the stir if the shop is not closed soon.
Among others, Shiv Sena women wing district president Soudamini Nanda, VP Minati Patro, Mamata Moharana, Mahanagar president Rinki Chaudhury, Sabita Das, Sumitra Behera, Puja Sabhasundar, State VP Balaram Baba, Simanchal Padhy and Krushna Chaudhury were present.
