Tension prevailed in the Jobra area here under the Malgodown police station when a group of locals confronted police personnel after a person was injured during a vehicle checking drive in the locality on Monday night.

Sources said the injured Vikram Sahu was on his way to Jobra from the Stadium Road when a traffic Constable tried to stop him by throwing a stick at the vehicle, following which Vikram lost control, fell down and sustained severe injuries.

He was rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital here.

After seeing Vikram getting injured, irate locals blamed the traffic cops for the incident. They blocked the road and shouted slogans against the police.

Tension prevailed in the area following the incident as angry locals created a ruckus. Later, additional police forces and senior police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd following which normalcy was restored.
