With the aim of finding a lasting solution to frequent disruptions in Parliament and assemblies while the Houses are in session, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has set up a committee comprising Speakers of assemblies.
The committee has been asked to suggest measures after consulting all stake holders so that proceedings of Parliament and assemblies are conducted in orderly manner, enhancing the quality of debate in the Houses.
UP Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dikshit will be the chairman of the committee, which also includes Speakers of six other assemblies.
The other members of the committee are Speakers P Dhanpal (Tamil Nadu), Rana Kanwar Pal Singh (Punjab), Rajendra Prasad Dwivedi (Gujarat), Reoti Mohan Das (Tripura), Charan Das Mahant (Chhattisgarh) and Narmada Prasad Prajapati (Madhya Pradesh).
Thanking the Lok Sabha Speaker for nominating him as Chairman of the committee, Dikshit said that the committee would discharge its duty as desired by the Lok Sabha Speaker and would submit its report on time.
