Known for carrying philanthropic activities in the name of his idol, Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit, Pappu Sardar has now come in rescue of kids of sex workers. Pappu distributed about 65 school bags and other stationery items among kids of women involved in flesh trade at Asansol in West Bengal.

He, along with other volunteers, also distributed sarees among workers.

“I draw inspiration from Madhuri’s role in movie Devdas. My idol played a role of a sex worker so as a tribute to her, I decided to lend help to those needy. As a society, we should not stigmatise sex workers based on their profession.,” said Pappu. He said that the idea is to give them respect.

He said that the kids were given school bags, note books and other stationery items. “ They must do well in their studies and studying like any other children without being subjected to any kind of discrimination.

Pappu, who also distributed about 110 sarees among them, said that he was overwhelmed to see the response from them. They have been neglected by the society and need support.

The famous fan is also known celebrating Dixit's birthday since 1996. His dedication to the star has no limits. Earlier, his neighbours used to consider him crazy, but now they eagerly wait for the annual event, and wholeheartedly join in the revelries. Like thousands of others, Pappu Sardar idolises Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit.

But he is a unique member of her fan club in that he has taken it upon himself to reach out to those in need while dedicating the service to her.
