Under the Swachhch Bharat Mission, the Mahakaleshwar Temple, Ujjain has been declared the first runner-up 'Swachh Iconic Place' in Phase-2 by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Government of India. The award was given by the Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to Ujjain Collector Shashank Mishra in Delhi today.
