Maiden meeting of administrative committee formed to suggest and recommend about liquor prohibition in the state was held at Commercial Tax (GST) Building in Nava Raipur on Thursday.
Nominated members of the committee, which include social workers from across the state, attended the meeting along with senior officials of excise department.
The committee members include Padmashree Shamshad Begum, Padmashree Phulbasan Bai among others.
Shamshad in the meeting apprised about her own experience and said formation of Women Commandos which worked for creating awareness against liquor consumption brought considerable decrease in sale of liquor in Balod district.
She also suggested that prohibition should be included in school curriculum and also called for establishing anti-addiction centers at various places across the state before enforcing prohibition in the state.
