With the aim to extend the benefits of Labour department schemes to construction workers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked people’s representatives to apprise labourers at construction sites of the schemes so that they could avail their benefits.
The Chief minister has written a letter on September 25 in this regard to mayors, district panchayat chairmen, block pramukhs, nagar palika chiefs and gram pradhans.
“The Labour department has formulated many schemes for the benefit of construction workers. The benefits will reach these labourers only if they are registered with UP Building and Other Construction Welfare Board,” the Chief Minister said in the letter released to the media on Wednesday.
Yogi said it was the responsibility of elected representatives from urban and rural areas to get these labourers registered with the Board so that the benefits could reach them.
“It is a reality that labourers at far-flung areas do not know about the nitty-gritty of the scheme. If schemes of Labour department are advertised in a large way, the benefits will reach a large section,” the Chief Minister said.
Yogi also attached details of various schemes with the letter so that the people’s representatives became aware of them and apprised the workers about the schemes.
“I am sure that if we educate these labourers working at construction sites about their rights they would stand to benefit from the schemes,” Yogi wrote.
