Make U’khand plastic waste free: CM

The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said that a plastic waste recycling plant would be set up at Haridwar and its foundation stone would be laid on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. He was speaking at the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of State Panchayat Resource Training centre here on Tuesday.

He said that the State Government is committed to make the State free from plastic waste. Appreciating the efforts of the scientists to make power and other things from plastic waste, he said that the Union Government has agreed in principle to provide a sum of Rs 3.80 Crore for the waste recycling plant at Haridwar.

CM said that the State panchayat resource training centre would emerge an important centre in future for the panchayats. He said that it would act as strong base for data collection of different activities.

 He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed his concern on the problem of plastic waste during his ‘ Man Ki Baat’ programme. Rawat said that the Government of India is taking measures to make the country free from plastic waste. He highlighted the importance of public cooperation in this direction. He said that the Panchayats can play a significant role in the field of organic farming.  He added that the union government has made a provision in the budget for the organic farming.

Speaking on the occasion the Panchayati Raj minister Arvind Pandey said that the objective of the training centre is to understand the problem of general public and find a solution for them. He said that the State Government is committed to provide benefit of Government schemes to the general public.The minister said that the State Government has set up a minimum educational qualification criteria of class VIII for reserved category and class X for general category with an objective of making the panchayats strong. The Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma ‘ Kau’, director Panchayat Raj H C Semwal, Samsher Singh Satyal, Director BRIDCUL Manoj Semwal and chief executive officer of PMGSY, Udairaj were present on the occasion.
