Makeup plays a vital role in theatre presentation. These days makeup techniques have become more advanced and these skills are being learnt by the students of Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD).
A theatre make up workshop is being organised at MPSD premise wherein the students are learning stage make up. It is to be noted that a 15-day workshop is being organised at MPSD which is all about theatre and make-up.
Notably, each character has its unique make-up that makes the actor look exact like the role he or she is playing.
Being conducted by a renowned artist from Kolkata Sanjoy Samanta, the MPSD students are learning different aspects of theatre makeup which they presented on stage during class presentation.
Youngsters learning the basics of theatre industry were acquainted with the make-up techniques.
The makeup experts of theatre and cinema interacted with the city theatre students and highlighted over the makeup techniques used in theatres.
The session was held here on Wednesday at Jagmohan Das School.
According to Sanjoy, each time the artists have to wear a different makeup which is according to the character. It enhances the identity of the character on stage, he says.
During the class presentation the students will depict all the features they learnt during the workshop.
How to apply and how to maintain the worn makeup were highlights of the session.
The history of make-up was also taught to the students.
Besides, the students are given a practical knowledge of the makeup tips. Some students tried out the experiments with the makeup.
Some changed their character to a saint and some became an elderly person. The session was all fun for the students.
There are classes of complete character with make-up, costume and dialogues.
