Govindpura police has booked a miscreant for molesting a 16-year-old girl at Anna Nagar square during Durga idol procession on Tuesday.
Police said that the accused, identified as Sandeep hold victim’s hand while she was moving with the procession in the afternoon on Tuesday and when the procession reached Anna Nagar square.
The victim escaped and informed her parents after which a complaint was lodged with the Govindpura police. She stated that when she opposed, he threatened her and escaped from the
spot. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under sections 354, 354 (D) of the IPC and section 7 and 8 of the POCSO Act and have started search for the accused who went absconding after the complaint was lodged.
During the investigation, police found that the accused is resident of the same locality and has been involved in mischievous acts in the past.
Meanwhile, TT Nagar police have arrested a 24-year-old miscreant who was peeping two minor sisters taking bath inside her house in South TT Nagar on Monday.
According to TT Nagar police, the victim sisters were taking bath in their house when the accused identified as Jayesh Sharma was peeping and the two spotted her and raised alert.
The police have registered a case under sections 354, 354 (D) of the IPC and section 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act and have started search for the accused who went absconding after the complaint was lodged.
The accused was nabbed and sent under judicial custody.
