Man booked for sexual harassment

A woman has brought sexual harassment charges against her father-in-law. The 26-year-old woman, in the complaint, alleged that her father-in-law, identified as Kailash Mahto  (70), who is a retired sub-divisional engineer in DVC, has been sexually harassing her for the last few months, said Officer-in Charge Umesh Kumar Thakur.

She has also leveled dowry harassment allegation against her father- in-law and sister in-law and has said that her husband, who is a junior engineer, also turned a blind eye to the issue.

According to reports, it was learned that the woman, namely Sangita Mehta (changed name ) who hails from Hazaribagh, had married with Ramanujan son of Kailash Mahto on June 25, 2019 at Bokaro thermal in Bokaro district.

Though he had promised to take her with him, he did not do so, states the reports. When the woman demanded to be taken to the Assam to live with her husband, her father-in law allegedly asked her to bring jewellery and Rs 10 lakh in cash from her parents.

Due to the absence of her husband, the woman was subjected to repeated harassment for the last few months.

A woman has accused her husband, and father-in-law of sexually harrassment her for dowry, following which a case (119/19 ) has been registered under IPC 498A,323,379,376,511,and 34 against the duo, Officer-in Charge Unmesh Kumar Thakur said.
