A 52-year-old man who climbed atop a floodlight pole at North Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium on Tuesday to protest against the Delhi Government in connection with his job, was finally brought down safely after three hours.
The man was identified as Josh Lakra, a resident of Mundka village. Police said that the Model Town police station was informed regarding a person on the roof of Chhatrashal stadium who was threatening to commit suicide.
According to a senior police official, Lakra was working as a peon on contract basis in Chhatrashal Stadium, but he was removed from his duty two-three years ago as he was not a regular employee and was on contract.
"On Tuesday, he climbed the floodlight pole at Chhatrasal Stadium to protest against the Delhi Government in connection with resuming job. Lakra finally got convinced after his demands were accepted by the Delhi government," said the senior police official.
"He was brought down safely with the help of police and Delhi Fire Service after three hours. Earlier, in February this year, he had staged a similar protest by climbing the floodlight pole at Chhatrasal Stadium," said a police official.
