Man dies in colony, not due to liquor consumption

Monday, 23 September 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

On Sunday morning the death of another person in the Pathariya Peer colony raised speculation among the locals and the authorities that this death might have been another fatality in the illicit liquor consumption case.

However, the death was not directly related with the case, but is an alleged after effect of the incident.

Circle Officer (city) Shekhar Suyal said, “Health of a 65-year-old male in the same area suddenly deteriorated, after which he was taken to Mahant Indiresh Hospital, from where the doctors then referred him to AIIMS in Rishikesh. There the doctors declared him dead. The family said that he was going through trauma after the deaths in his family and in the area. He was also not eating properly and had not touched alcohol for quite some time which ruled out the possibility of his death being caused by consumption of liquor. His family though did not want post-mortem, but registration was done.”

The deceased has been identified as Gurdeep Singh (65).
