Man hacks wife to death at Kathara

Arun Kumar Lahiri son of Rajendra Prasad Lahiri of Kathara area was arrested and the traditional item used in the killing of his was recovered. The exact cause behind the killing was not yet known, said Inspector cum Officer in-Charge, Prameshear Leyangi. 

Police said a 28-year-old woman identified as Kanchan Devi was killed allegedly by her husband following an altercation at CCL quarter no WB-43 in Russian colony within limits of Bokaro Thermal police station here on Thursday evening.

The Officer-in Charge said Arun Kumar Lahiri did not make any attempt to flee even after the committing the crime. Though the exact cause behind the killing was not yet known but it was being suspected that Lahiri has killed his wife last evening following an altercation, he said.

A police team rushed to the spot on being informed by mukhiya on Thursday late in the evening and recovered the body, and informed her family members who living Lakhisarai in Bokaro. The recovered body was sent to Bokaro Sadar Hospital for autopsy here on Friday after reaching her relatives.

According to police the accused Arun Kumar Lahiri was a security guard in Delhi and recently he came to his house at Kathara last December 28,2018.During investigation,it was found that the accused was suffering from mental illness and he was also upset over some family dispute.

The accused used to live with wife sons father and mother in Kathara which come under the jurisdiction of Bokaro Thermal police station in Bokaro.

On Thursday evening,the local mukhiya informed the police about the incident. He said the body of Kanchan Devi, 28, was lying in a pool of blood in a room, mukhiya added.

On Thursday afternoon he had an argument with his wife. Around late in afternoon he pressed her neck to death inside the room. Case has been registered against nabbed person while further investigation is underway.
