On the eve of Deepawali, while people were busy preparing for celebrations, a person brutally murdered his neighbour in the Kankhal area of Haridwar. The murder was reportedly committed as the accused was against a women frequently visiting the victim in his shanty at night.
A tea-seller was brutally murdered by his neighbour living in Bairagi Camp. Both of them reportedly had differences over the women frequently visiting the shanty of the tea-seller known as Pandey, which is believed to be the main reason behind the murder. The main accused has fled after committing the murder.
Kankhal police station in-charge, Hariom Chauhan, informed that the main accused has been identified as Pradeep Bengali who was living at Delhi Hall, Bairagi Camp and worked as a waiter in Haridwar. He was reportedly against women frequently visiting the shanty of Pandey. On the ill-fated Saturday night, Pandey came to his hut with a woman. Seeing this, Bengali also entered the hut and had an argument with Pandey. The woman left as the men began to argue. Later, the argument turned violent and Bengali allegedly killed Pandey hitting him on the head with a stone. Bengali, who was reportedly drunk at the time, informed the others in the locality about the incident before fleeing the site.
The Kankhal police sent the body of Pandey for post-mortem examination while a case has been lodged against Bengali. The police are searching for the main accused in the case and expect to nab him soon.
Pandey used to call himself a native of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. The police are trying to ascertain his identity. Both Pandey and Bengali have had arguments in the past.
