Man stabbed 8 times, shot over petty issue

A 24-year-old man was hacked to death following an alteration over some petty issue. The incident occurred on Wednesday night at South Delhi's Tigri area. Police said that the deceased, Rohit was stabbed eight times and he was also shot twice from close range.

According to Parminder Singh, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South district, Rohit, a resident of Tigri in Sangam Vihar area was stabbed and shot by Akash, his brother Annu, Kapil and their associates on Wednesday night.

"A police control room (PCR) call regarding the incident was received at around 11.10 pm following which a police team rushed to the spot.

By the time the police reached the spot, the injured, Rohit had already been shifted to Batra Hospital by his relatives where the injured succumbed to injuries," said the Additional DCP.

"Doctors told police that Rohit had been stabbed multiple times (8) and shot twice from close range.

A case under section 302/34 of Indian Penal

Code and 27 Arms Act was registered at Tigri police station and investigation was taken up," said the Additional DCP.

"During investigation, it was revealed that on Wednesday, Rohit had an altercation with Akash during the daytime.

Later in the night Akash, his brother Annu, Kapil and few others intercepted Rohit when he was going towards his home and stabbed and fired at him multiple times," said the Additional DCP.

"Police teams have been formed to nab the accused. Further police teams are scanning CCTV cameras in the area to know the crime sequence and whereabouts of the accused," said a police official.
