nA 29-year-old woman was injured after a man threw a chemical on her near the New Delhi Railway Station (NDRS) on Saturday. Police said that the accused, identified as Rudra Vishwash, who hails from West Bengal, threw some chemical substance at her and fled.
Police said that both the accused and victim are vagabonds. The victim woman hails from Telangana. According to a senior police official, a police control room (PCR) call was made at around 1:15 pm on Saturday by a passerby who stated that some chemical has been thrown on a woman near deluxe toilet at Ajmeri gate side of NDRS.
"Acting on the call, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) was dispatched for the spot. When the police team reached on the spot, the victim told police that her boyfriend, Rudra Vishwash has thrown some liquid chemical substance on her," said the senior police official.
"She was rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital where she is being treated. In her statement the woman stated that she came to Delhi with Rudra Vishwash six months ago and they lived together for couple of months. After an altercation with her boyfriend she was living as destitute at NDRS," said the senior police official.
"The woman told police that Rudra wanted her to live with him but she denied. On Saturday, Rudra met her near deluxe toilet Ajmeri gate side and threw the substance on her before fleeing away from the spot. The liquid seemingly dilute chemical was brought in a plastic water bottle by the accused," said a police official privy to investigation.
"A case under relevant section of law has been registered at NDRS police station. The victim has got swelling on her right eye and she has some blurred vision for which she is undergoing treatment. Manhunt has been initiated to nab the culprit," said the police official.
