State president of Karmchari Adhikari Nigam Mahasangh, Dinesh Gusain, said that the number of buses in the UTC has to be increased considerably. He said, “The UTC is already in a loss of about Rs 250 crore, on top of it if employees won’t work during the peak season of revenue generation, they will never be able to pay our salaries.
Though we are also demanding the payment of pending salaries, but boycotting working during festive season will be irrational.
The main reason behind the loss of UTC is that there should be at least 16,000 buses in UTC fleet, but we have only 12,037.
Then, there is the increased number of private buses operating also.”
