Saturday, 19 January 2019 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Palamu police range has now Maoists only at the tri junction of Lohardaga, Latehar and Garhwa districts. Stating this DIG, Palamu, Vipul Shukla said it is Ravindra Ganjhu here who rears his head.

The Maoists have now a shrunken contingent where there top cades are moving since there is no recruitment in their fold since common people have seen their real face.

Burha Pahar is now empty of the Maoists and police need just one more picket to set up at Behra Toli in Jharkhand area to further dominate the hill as Chhatisgarh’s Pundaag starts after this Behra Toli, added the DIG.

He said that 11 police pickets-- 4 in Latehar district, 4 in Garhwa district and 3 in Palamu district in 2018 --have contained and curbed the free passage of the Maoists.

On naxal violence DIG said there is a considerable decline but there is no room for any complacency.

He said Palamu remained calm and quiet more in 2018 but here went 48 operations against naxals, while Latehar, which witnessed a series of naxal violence, mostly arson, had 47 anti naxal operations and Garhwa only 14.

The DIG said, “48 in 31 days of December in Palamu and 47 in Latehar and just 14 in Garhwa need to be noticed.”  He praised his three SPs Shivani Tiwary (Garhwa) Prashant Anand ( Latehar) and Indrajeet Mahatha ( Palamu) making a prophecy that “These three will come out as successful police officers.”

On cattle smuggling here the DIG said, “It is I who get maximum of this input of cattle smuggling. We take action. Police cannot check any vehicle. There are delicacies. But despite this we take prompt actions against the smugglers of cattle and ascertain if they are habitual offenders too.”

On the invocation of section 174 A of IPC against the thick skinned absconders the DIG said 37 have been booked and they are surer to cool their heels behind the bars.

As for no figure of cyber crime in this range DIG right through his press briefing asked his aide to give the figure which did not come till the briefing lasted today.
