Fire tenders and vehicles faced ire of slum dwellers of Shankar Nagar after fire tender failed to extinguish massive fire which gutted around a dozen shanties in the morning on Sunday.
The locals were pacified and rescue work was started and more than half a dozen fire tender vehicles were pressed into service and it took more than two hours to pacify the fire.
Panic prevailed in the area after a massive fire broke out at around 10 in the morning which soon spread and engulfed 10 shanties.
The reason of the fire was fire which was put near the slums in the morning hours but to ascertain the reason was not possible said fire tender.
After receiving the information fire tender vehicles were rushed from Chhola fire brigade station but it was not having water which irked the locals and later water filled vehicles reached the fire took massive shape and gutted shanties. In the fire shanties were damaged badly and most of them suffered complete damage.
On the receipt of the information CSP Nishatpura Lokesh Sinha, senior officials of administration and former minister MLA Vishwas Sarang visited the spot.
The power supply was disconnected to avert further damage.
The locals rushed to the rescue and people were evacuated. In the fire no one was injured and few sustained minor burns.
The affected people are Vijay Chauhan, Dharmendra Nayak, Papiya Nayak, Tola Nayak, Dula Singh, Bunne Singh, Nathu Nath, Annu, Pappu, Rati Ram who reside at the slum for long.
