The maximum temperatures on Sunday hovered close to normal limits at most places in Punjab and Haryana including their common capital Chandigarh.
Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius, which was within the normal limits. The minimum temperature recorded was 20.9 degrees, three notches below normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 39.2 degree Celsius while Bhiwani’s maximum settled at 39.9 degree Celsius, both of which were within normal limits.
Hisar recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 degree Celsius, three notches below normal limits. Narnaul, however, experienced a hot day at 42.7 degree Celsius, up three notches against normal.
Karnal witnessed maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees, one degree below normal.
Amritsar in Punjab recorded a high of 38.2 degree Celsius, two degrees below normal.
Ludhiana and Patiala recorded near similar maximum temperatures at 39 degree Celsius and 39.2 degree Celsius respectively, down by one degree each against normal.
The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather for the next five days in Punjab and Haryana.
Meanwhile, in neighboring hill state of Himachal, its capital –Shimla recorded maximum temperature of 26 degree Celsius while the minimum settled at 13.7 degrees, two notches below normal.
Una recorded a high of 38.4 degrees, Sundernagar settled at maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees, Kangra saw 34 degrees, Solan 32.2 degrees.
Manali and Dharamshala recorded respective maximum temperatures of 24.6 degrees and 28.2 degree Celsius.
