The maximum temperatures in Haryana and Punjab hovered below the normal limits on Friday.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, received light rains and recorded a maximum of 31.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal limits, a Meteorological Department report said here.
Ambala in Haryana recorded a high of 33.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below the normal.
Karnal registered a high of 32.4 degrees Celsius, which is two notches below the average. Bhwani and Hisar also recorded below normal maximums of 34.6 degrees Celsius and and 34.2 degrees Celsius, respectively. Narnaul's maximum settled at 33.3 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal limits.
In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a high of 32.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below the normal. Ludhiana recorded a maximum of 30.8 degrees Celsius, down two notches from the normal while Patiala, which received moderate rains during the day, registered a high of 32.6 degrees Celsius, one degree below the normal.
The MeT office has forecast light to moderate rains at isolated places in the two states for Saturday.
