Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati will hold an important meeting with senior office-bearers of the party in Lucknow on Thursday. She is likely to announce the BSP candidates, including those for Uttar Pradesh, later in the evening.
Mayawati had held meetings with state chiefs and national level office-bearers of the party on Tuesday to give a final shape to the list of candidates.
Earlier, Mayawati had instructed her party cadre to strike a better rapport with leaders and workers of alliance partner Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal, saying that they could fulfil the dream of BSP founder Kanshi Ram to form a government at the Centre only through better coordination among the three parties.
The BSP chief said that for some time, everyone should shed their differences and also not angle for petty gains and instead work with full devotion and sincerity to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress candidates.
Sources in the BSP claimed that Mayawati would also take feedback from ground-level officer-bearers and co-ordinators before taking a final call on the candidates on Thursday. Mayawati would also organise joint meetings of the workers of all coalition partners so that a strategy could be chalked out to fight the elections together.
