Dehradun Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ is likely to unveil the foundation stone for the second phase of renovation and beautification work on the Clock Tower on June 28. The beautification and fixing of the clocks has been pending for nearly a year now.
The mayor said, “The foundation stone was to be unveiled on June 24 but we were unable to do so due to some work. The programme is now likely to be held on June 28.” Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “The work of the renovation and beautification was divided into two phases. The strengthening of the structure is done however the fixing of the clocks and some beautification work is left. This is likely to take one or two months to be completed.”
An official of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) said, “After the unveiling of foundation stone the pending beautification work will start which includes the illuminated fountain, landscape painting and others.
The clock will be fixed by Bridge, Ropeway, Tunnel, and other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL).”
It is pertinent to mention that the work on renovation and beautification of Clock Tower was started in March last year.
