The first stage of the three-stage Swachchh Survekshan 2020 has already started in the month of July. Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ said that necessary steps will be taken to improve the ranking of the city in this national survey this time.
Past surveys were conducted during December-January considering which urban local bodies used to work on sanitation mainly during the survey period.
However, this time the ranking will be given according to the cleanliness maintained by the ULBs throughout the year.
For this the first stage has already started while the second will be conducted in September-October followed by the third stage in December-January.
The mayor said, “The Survekshan this time is being done in three stages and our officials have been issued directions accordingly. Some steps have also been taken by us like covering the dustbins in the city.
We will work to roll up the ranking of the city.” It should be noted that in 2017 Dehradun secured 316th position which rose to 259 in 2018. However, in 2019 the position of Dehradun dropped down to 384th position.
