In the past two board meetings of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), officials have been bringing proposals for using MCD land for commercial purposes.
However, the data so far had not been collected from all the newly added wards. Data from only 23 out of 40 new wards has been collected so far. An official in charge said, “We are taking the government land data from all the Gram Panchayats which used to work in these wards earlier. Government land data from 23 wards has been collected by us so far.”
The data on government land has been collected from Ladpur, Nanurkheda, Nehrugram, Natthanpur, Nakronda,Tunwala, Sunderwala,Raipur, Harrawala, Miyawala,Majrimafi, Mohkampur,Kuawala, Badripur, Balawala, Mothorawala,Banjarawala, Banjarawala (Mafi), Chalang, Danda Khudenwala, Vijaypur and Mangluwala areas so far.
It is pertinent to mention that the MCD has been suffering from staff shortage for quite some time now. There is only one Patwari for 100 wards.
Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ said, “We are trying to collect the data on the government land in the new wards however we have a shortage of staff. There is only one Patwari for 100 wards which is why it is difficult for us to collect the data on time. However, the work is in progress and we have collected the data from some of the wards.”
