The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Wednesday issued six challans of Rs 24,800 and seized 30 kilogrammes of polythene. The MCD department headed by deputy municipal commissioner Rohitash Sharma is initially targeting wholesalers who buy polythene in bulk and then sell it to small vendors. It is pertinent to mention here that the team has started working from August 9. Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that strict enforcement will bring change in the habits of citizens also. He urged that while going shopping citizens should make it a habit of carrying their own personal jute or cloth bag. That way vendors will also not be compelled to keep polythene with them.
