The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) began charging parking fees on its campus from Thursday. The move came in the backdrop of the problem of parking faced by MCD on the day of human chain event. According to the Dehradun deputy municipal commissioner, Rohitash Sharma, they faced severe parking issues on the day of human chain event.
According to Sharma, there was severe shortage of parking space in the MCD compound on the day of human chain event.
“There was no parking space for the buses and vehicles we booked for the event. We found out that people who don’t even come to MCD for work park their vehicles in the campus parking,” said Sharma
Parking fee for two-wheelers is Rs 15 for first one hour, Rs 30 for three hours and Rs 50 after three hours. For four-wheelers it is Rs 30 for first one hour, Rs 50 for three hours and Rs 100 after three hours.
Sharma also stated that parking fee will be charged from everyone irrespective of they are visiting MCD or not.
