The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) filed a complaint against a former employee, charging him with collecting money from the locals in the name of the door to door garbage collection. The action was taken after it was found that the former worker had been collecting money from some specific wards in the name of the door to door garbage collection. The civic body sources said that some residents themselves had complained about being made to shell out money for the garbage collection by the former worker.
Taking a serious note of the matter, the officer in-charge of MCD has filed an FIR against the person. The people have also been asked not to give money to such persons who pose as MCD workers though presently they have nothing to do with the civic body.
Note worthy, MCD had recently appointed a Chennai-based company for the door to door garbage collection service. Following numerous complaints received from the councillors and the people about the dismal status of the door to door garbage collection, MCD had decided to make changes in the work force, with efficiency being the yardstick. Recently, some workers have been chosen from the old staffers and the rest has been appointed by the company.
