A team from Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) including the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey will be visiting Gau Sadans at Mathura in Uttar Pradesh as they are deemed to be among the best in the country. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be made after their visit for the development of Gau Sadan at Selaqui in Dehradun.

According to sources, once the Gua Sadan here is completely developed, MCD will be shifting nearly every stray cattle in the city to Selaqui. Pandey said, “The development of Gau Sadan in Selaqui will be done on 84 bigha land in Selaqui. The development work will be done in two phases.

For the first phase we are planning to shift the cattle already housed in Kanji House. A DPR of Rs 77 lakh has been sent to state administration for approval.

They have assured to provide financial assistance at the earliest. Work of the first phase has already started and is likely to be completed in about a month. It will include proper light arrangement, food and water supplies and CCTV cameras. For the second phase we are going to visit few of the best Gau Sadans in Mathura and then a DPR will be finalised.” He further added, “We will continue to use the present Kanji House in future also, but we will only keep 25 to 50 cattle there at one time. It will be used to keep those stray cattle which are recovered by their owners within 24 hours. Rest will be sent to Selaqui directly.” When asked about the coordination with Animal Husbandry department he said, “We have asked them to provide us assistance in two aspects. The first is for medical assistance and second is for post mortem in case some cattle dies.”
