In order to generate more revenue and also to keep a proper record of the people paying door to door garbage collection service charges in the old 60 wards the Chennal Municipal Solid Waste Private Limited (MSWPL) company contracted by the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will keep a proper record of these houses. Project head of MSWPL Mohit Diwedi stated that the move will not only create a good income for the MCD but also no household availing the service of door to door garbage collection will be left without paying the service charges.

Diwedi said, “We are planning to keep proper data of households paying us door to door garbage collection service charges. For this service the MCD used to collect nearly Rs 10 lakh I the past of which half was spent on the supervisors’ salary. As we are now in charge of this service the amount collected will be given directly to the MCD which will definitely be more than before.”

He further added, “Our data will help us to know the actual number of households that are availing the service and have to pay the amount. Our supervisors will meet the residents directly and will also try to resolve their complaints. Every house receiving our service will give the definite amount that is Rs 50 per month.”

MCD has also planned to open a common bank account number which can help the people to pay this charge online. “The MCD may also open an online bank account number which will be an easy way for us and even for the residents to pay the charges. We have also separated commercial properties in this. Commercial properties pay the amount in cheques which usually is decided as per the service these properties avail. The online account number will help us collect the amount from these commercial properties very easily,” Diwedi added.
