Men shot at brother-in-law for marrying against family’s wish

Furious with their sister for marrying someone against their wish, two brothers tried to kill a man in an attempted ‘honour killing’ case in Uttam Nagar area on Wednesday.

Police have arrested the duo brother identified as, Neeraj (32) and Nitin (28) residents of Hastsaal Village in Delhi. They were nabbed by the Delhi Police Crime Branch team from Gurugram Bus stand on Thursday. Neeraj is employed while Nitin has pursued MA degree.

According to Rajesh Deo, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Crime Branch, on Wednesday a Police Control Room (PCR) call regarding a firing incident was received at Uttam Nagar police station.

“When a police team reached the spot, it was found that the injured was shifted to hospital, subsequently another call was also received from the Mata Maggo Rani hospital that an injured has been admitted,” said the DCP.

“In his statement to police, the victim who is also a resident of Hastsal Village, stated that on Tuesday at about 10 pm while he was along with his friends when they met a person and started talking to him, the elder brother of his wife, was also nearby,” said the DCP.

“Suddenly his wife’s younger brother came on a bike and pulled out his pistol. The victim tried to flee from the spot but the alleged person fired on him and the bullet hit in his right hand after which he fell down on the spot,” said the DCP.

“Both brother of the victim’s wife started hitting the victim and shouting “shoot him in the head” but after hearing the gun shot sound people started to gather which forced the accused to flee away from the spot,” DCP added.

“During interrogation, Neeraj and Nitin revealed that their sister got married with a person against the wishes of their family and society. Victim is a gym trainer and Neeraj also works out in the same gym. The victim had married the accused sister against wishes of the family. In order to get the revenge they tried to kill the victim,” said the DCP.
