Min instructs to revamp Ratu Road by Nov 15

Urban Development Minister CP Singh today instructed National Highway Authority of India and Road Construction department to revamp Ratu Road from Kutchery Chowk to Piska More by November 15 this year. Reviewing projects of his department and JUIDCO the Minister gave important instructions to the officials here on Monday.

During the review a senior officer of NHAI said that acquisition of 4.2 acres of land near Harmu River and New Market needs to be done according to the DPR made for Harmu Road Flyover. This includes 1.31 acres of private land and 2.9 acres of Government land. The Minister said on this that minimum area of land needs to be acquired for the purpose. Department Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh instructed to prepare a new DPR. He said that it also needs to be seen if work can be done without land acquisition; the government will give its nod on the matter.

Singh said that the construction of the flyover is likely to get delayed, till then  Ratu Road should be widened and strengthened. At least till Dussehra, Ratu Road should be made easy for traffic. On this, the representative of NHAI said that by November 15, the widening and strengthening of Ratu Road will be done. In the course of the review, it was revealed that the Rotary of Harmu Road and Ratu Road Flyover is to be built near New Market Ratu Road, while provision has been made in the current DPR of land acquisition.

Singh also reviewed the construction work of the Kanta Toli flyover.

He directed to expedite the progress of work. He wanted to know why there is a delay in the construction of the the fly flyover. JUIDCO General Manager Ashok Kumar told the Minister that the delay was due to the non-detection of the condition of the old pipeline.

Now, 98 per cent of pipe fitting has been completed. He said that a special type of X-ray machine will be procured by the consulting company in two-three days, which will make it easier to detect underground pipes, which will soon make the work of pipe refitting.

Urban Development Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary SB Ambastha, JUIDCO PDT RK Basudev, GM (Transportation) Ashok Kumar, AGM Sushil Kumar, DGM Shitanshu Vaibhav, Engineer in Chief Road Construction department Ras Bihari Singh and JUIDCO officials were present on the occasion.
