Modi, Shah in BJP star campaigner list

The BJP star campaigners list for year-end Assembly poll includes the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, actor turn politician Sunny Deol, BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari among other bigwigs. The BJP central committee on Saturday evening released the names of 40 star campaigners for Assembly elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister and BJP national president Amit Shah, BJP working president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, party general secretary BL Santosh, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das are among the 40 star campaigners.

The list also includes the name of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and firebrand leader Yogi Adityanath, BJP vocal leaders, such as law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Petroleum & Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan, minority affairs minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, textiles minister Smriti Irani, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Nityanand Rai. Apart from ministers in Modi cabinet, the Saffron party has also roped leaders from organization such as Arun Singh, Om Prakash Mathur, Soudan Singh, Nand Kishore Yadav.

Among the actor turn politicians in star campaigner list, the names include of Sunny Deol, the BJP MP from Gurdaspur (Lok Sabha constituency), Manoj Tiwari singer and actor and MP from North East Delhi and actor singer and MP from Gorakhpur Ravi Kishan. Some of the leaders from state figuring in star campaigner list apart from Chief Minister Raghubar Das, are union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, BJP election in-charge Om Prakash Mathur, election co in-charge, Nand Kishore Yadav, State BJP president Laxman Giluwa, Palamu MP VD Ram, Loharadaga MP Sudarshan Bhagat, Rajya Sabha MP Sameer Oraon, former eight times MP from Khunti Kariya Munda, BJP organizational secretary Dharampal Singh, Deepak Prakash, Chatra MP Sunil Singh, Koderma MP Annapurna Devi, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Ravindra Rai, Mangal Pandey among others.

BJP has planned a concerted campaign by its national leaders for the Jharkhand assembly polls with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to address five to six rallies and party chief Amit Shah at least 10 rallies, party sources said.

The first election rally will be addressed by PM Modi before November 24 either in Palamu or Garhwa. In the first phase, elections will be held in 13 Assembly constituencies.

A senior BJP leader requesting anonymity said, “There is no bigger leader other than our star campaigner and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi jee will address election rallies in every phase trying to reach out to masses.”

In last Lok Sabha election too, PM Modi had addressed five election rallies and a road show in State Capital.  The chief minister himself had addressed more than 80 election rallies in the State.

Jharkhand will go to the polls in five phases from November 30, with last phase on December 20 and results on December 23. There are 81 assembly seats in Jharkhand and the BJP is currently in power the State.
