The popularity of Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath can be seen at Kanwar Yatra this year as devotees wearing T-shirts bearing images of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister show the craze of these leaders among the people.
“The T-shirts having Modi and Yogi pictures are much in demand during Sawan this year. People carrying kanwar are preferring T-shirts with pictures of these two leaders,” said Shyam Babu, a trader in Meerut.
This year’s Kanwar Yatra has got full government support. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has allowed DJ during the yatra and has asked officials to make preparations of Kanwar Yatra on the line of Kumbh Mela.
The Kanwar Yatra started on July 17 and will continue for the full month of Shravan
The CM has directed the authorities to make all arrangements for smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra. He has asked officials to shower flower petals from helicopter on devotees and also monitor the crowded areas during the yatras. He said that DJs would not be banned during the yatra but they should only play bhajans.
As this year Bakra Eid and last Monday of Shravan and Kanwar Yatra fall on the same date (August 12), the Chief Minister has asked officials to take proper security measures, including no illegal slaughtering on Kanwar Yatra route and installation of CCTV cameras in crowded areas.
