After completing his spiritual visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for the national capital from Dehradun on Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, from Saturday night onward, the Prime Minister spent about 17 hours in a cave on the mountainside overlooking Kedarnath.
He paid obeisance at the shrine in the morning and had a brief talk with media persons. He thanked the Election Commission for giving him two-day respite for his spiritual visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Referring to his night in Kedarnath he said that he was finally able to spend some time in solitude here. He said that he has been consistently reviewing the reconstruction project started here following the 2013 disaster.
When asked about whether he had asked the lord for anything he said, “I do not believe in asking the lord for anything.
The lord has made us capable of giving.”
Appreciating the State Government and the team involved in the Kedarnath reconstruction project, he said that the work was progressing well to provide safety and facilities for the thousands of pilgrims who visit this shrine daily.
Despite the difficult conditions here, the Kedarnath reconstruction project had progressed swiftly, he said. From here, the PM left for Badrinath where he paid his obeisance and offered prayers.
Later during the afternoon, at the Dehradun airport, the governor Baby Rani Maurya and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat were present to send the prime minister off.
At the airport, the PM shared the experience of his visit with the CM. Rawat said that the remaining 20 per cent work in Kedarnath will also be completed soon. Stating that the PM had special affection for Uttarakhand, Rawat said that Modi had also made some important suggestions for boosting pilgrimage in Kedarnath, Badrinath and tourism.
The CM further opined that the visits of the Prime Minister to Uttarakhand from time to time had helped in boosting tourism and pilgrimage activity in the state. His latest visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath will also boost the number of pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra, added the CM.
