In his 41 minute long speech at the Parade Ground here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi heaped praises on the ‘middle class’ for honestly paying taxes and financing the social welfare and developmental projects.
He spent almost eight minutes of the speech on the middle class which has remained a vote bank for the party.
Not naming Sam Pitroda, Modi said that the adviser of Congress president, Rahul Gandhi, in his recent statement had termed middle class as greedy which is an insult to the hard working and honest people of the country who by paying their taxes are financing the welfare schemes of the government.
He said that his government has given a relief to the taxpayers by charging no tax on an income of Rs 5 lakh in a year but warned that the congress if elected to power would burden the middle class with more taxes.
