The residents of Jharkhand will have to wait for the monsoon season as the rains could be late by a few days. The normal date for the start of the rainy season in the State is June 10 which begins from the north eastern parts of the state.
As per a communiqué issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the 2019 Monsoon Onset over Kerala is likely to be slightly delayed. The southwest monsoon onset is likely to set over Kerala on June 6 with a model error of about four days.
“Once the monsoon hits Kerala, its movement will be tracked and depending on its sharpness and strength only then can it be said when the rains will onset in Jharkhand. The normal date for Jharkhand is June 10 from the north east districts and by June 15 the entire State is covered including the western parts. It is not certain that the monsoon will be late here as well. It is also predicted that the State will receive normal rainfall- 96 per cent,” said SD Kotal, Director MET Centre- Ranchi.
According to the weather bulletin released by the MET Observatory Centre- Ranchi on May 18, the temperature in the entire state will be three to four degree Celsius above normal and the weather will remain mostly dry for the next five days.
“On May 22 because of some changes, there are chances of rainfall in isolated places in the north west parts of the state. Till May 21, some parts will be cloudy but the temperature will be three to four degrees above normal and after 24 hours there could be a further increase by one- two degree Celsius in the entire State,” the director added.
In the western parts of Jharkhand adjoining the states of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, there is also a probability of heat wave in isolated places on May 19 and May 20. The max temperature in the State capital was recorded at 39.8 degree Celsius where as the minimum was 25.8 degree Celsius.
