More services to be notified under RTS Act, says CM

Tuesday, 16 July 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the Uttarakhand Right To Service Commission building at Sahastradhara Road here on Monday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the chief minister said that with the commission getting its own office building, the services provided to the citizens by the commission will be facilitated in a more time-bound manner. It is the duty of public representatives and officials to resolve the problems faced by the public. The main purpose behind bringing the Right to Service Act is to ensure redressal of issues related to public welfare and concern. A total of 217 services have been notified under the Right To Service Act while the process is currently underway to bring 117 more services under the purview of this Act. Attempt will also be made to bring other services under this Act, said Rawat.

The chief minister said, “It is important that the issues are resolved on time. Provision will be made to penalise those responsible for delay in redressal of public grievances. The government has taken a stern decision to consider premature retirement of those officials who are negligent towards their work and not achieving proper outcomes. It is important for officers and employees to be alert towards their responsibilities. The CM dashboard has also been established in Uttarakhand which is outcome based. In addition to this, if any citizen registers a complaint on CM helpline 1905, the problem will not be considered solved till the complainant confirms that the issue has been resolved.  The effort of the government is aimed at ensuring that issues related to public concern are resolved on time. The swift redressal of public grievances is a top priority of the State Government,” he stressed.

Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi said that people will find it more convenient to get their grievances resolved with the opening of the Right To Service Commission office building. The commission will play a vital role in further strengthening public welfare schemes like Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana, Ujjwala and other such schemes.

Uttarakhand Right To Service Commission chief commissioner Alok Kumar Jain said that in the past four years, 17,500 cases had been heard in the commission. It is vital for the commission to be strong in order to empower the public and bring about transparency in works.

Expediting the notification of more services under the Act will facilitate swifter action in redressal of public grievances, he said.
